Epigastric hernia

Epigastric hernia

They are known also as hernias nearby the white line, which is located on the front abdominal wall from the sternum to the navel.
They result from increased intra-abdominal pressure and destruction of the mesh structure of tendon extensors in the area, which are punched by blood vessels.
According to their localization, they are epigastric, most frequent (81%), round the navel – paraumbical (16%) and hypogastric (3%).
Often these hernias are established accidentally, or are with very dramatic clinical picture due to the small size of sac and the frequent entrapments. At postponed treatment, which is only surgical one, they become too huge.
