The most common hernias are abdominal hernias. They represent a weakness (opening) of the abdominal wall through which abdominal organs go out (intestine, ovary, uterus, bladder).
Hernia appears as a bulge. Without treatment, the increase in hernia steadily progresses to considerable dimensions. At the beginning it creates discomfort and with the increasing it can hamper your life.
Once emerged, the opening in the abdominal wall can not heal spontaneously. Hernias progress and get bigger. The danger of ‘entrapment’ also increases. This is accompanied by severe pain and threatened by the development of peritonitis. The only way to stop the growth of hernia is surgery to restore the integrity of the abdominal wall. There are many methods of operation and the results of their application vary significantly. The right choice of a specific surgical recovery depends very much on the experience, knowledge and skills of the surgeon.
It turns out that the old "standard" operations are not always as effective. Recurrences reach 10-15%. Hernia specialists have experience of supervision of anatomical variations and treatment for thousands of hernia operations.
That is why in "Vita Hernia Center" we follow the standards imposed by the European Hernia Society - EHS. Along with conventional surgical methods, we apply also laparoscopic (bloodless) methods.
Estimated cost will be calculated after you have been examinated. If you have insurance, it will cover the surgery and hospital stay, but not the input supplies.
In laparoscopic surgery the full recovery occurs over a period of 5-7 days, while in conventional - 5-15 days.
Hernia repair lasts around 50 minutes.
After a short monitoring period and usually the day after surgery patients can travel. Upon request we can provide inpatient observation or contribute to accommodation in the vicinity, including the relatives of the patient. Large and complex hernia repairs may require monitoring for 2-4 days. So it is better to consult with your surgeon before making plans after surgery.
The stay in the clinic for postoperative observation is 24 hours. Discharge is after thorough examination and complete instructions. There is a permanent telephone connection provided and, if necessary, examination and consultation at home or in hospital.
We encourage early movement. Walks are recommended immediately the day after surgery. From the 5th to the 10th day you can start practicing fitness (cardio exercises). After 15-20-day you can switch to full physical activity. Discussions are held with each patient and depending on the age, the general condition, the type of operation and the fitness levels, the patient is prescribed specific instructions for sports.
